site > Favorites > Add to Favorites > OK Junior Cricket in the UK for Boys and Girls There is now a very strong junior cricket programme throughout the country based around Colts Junior Club Cricket, through to representative cricket based on the Cricket Board's attached to the County Cricket Clubs. Many Cricket Clubs run active junior cricket sections and will take youngsters from age 6 or 7 upwards for coaching. Most Clubs will provide cricket equipment until such time as youngsters prefer to have their own Junior Cricket Kit. The first step for most junior cricketers starting out for the first time in the game will be to Join a Junior Cricket Club with a strong Colts Cricket section. Club teams typically start at Under 9 level, with County level cricket very active from Under 9 level in a number of Counties. As an example the Surrey Cricket Board have been a pioneer in young cricketer development and now run winter courses aimed at Under 6 boys and girls upwards to Under 10.
