A comprehensive directory of cricket clubs throughout the UK is kept on the "Play Cricket" website, which has been set up by the English Cricket Board. A search tool enables you to list clubs in your own locality. To access this search tool please follow this link for a UK Cricket Club Directory : Play Cricket website, Once you have a list of cricket clubs in your area and the relevant contact details you should enquire directly to the club about the junior or colts sections of the club. Check also what night training sessions are held as this will need to be able to fit in regularly with other commitments. The choice of junior cricket club could also depend on whether you want a club which is very competitive, which may mean some travelling or just as a social activity, where the most local club is likely to suit best. .The more competitive clubs are those which consistently do well in league and cup competitions and regularly provide players for district and county representative teams. Most local leagues now run websites or use the Play Cricket network so previous league table can be looked up on the web at the various age groups to get an idea where a club stands. The more competitive clubs are likely to provide higher quality coaching on a regular basis but getting into the top "A" teams will be more difficult for young cricketers. Staff at the County Cricket Board's Head Office or Training Centres will also provide advice on local clubs as many of the active staff will have experience of local cricket.
