in Junior Football? - Get Involved with a Local Club Its never been easier for youngsters to get involved in organised football . In most areas local Clubs will take new players, boys and girls, from aged 6 onwards. Girls train and play football alongside boys until the age of 11, when separate girls team are now commonplace. Small sided football (usually 7 a side) is played from Under 7 until Under 10 , with smaller goals and smaller pitches to encourage young footballers to learn and develop their skills. 11 a side football, with larger goals, usually starts at Under 11 and junior football teams continue until Under 17 level in most areas , when the adult game takes over. There are several competing football leagues in most areas, each with many local football clubs, offering great choice to junior footballers. There is also an increasing number of well organised football coaching courses being run by local football coaches - often attached to a Premiership, Football League or Conference Club.
