Junior Golf for Boys and Girls
There has never been a better time to take up golf as a hobby for juniors.
Virtually all Clubs now realise that encouraging junior golf is the lifeblood
of the game. All of today's star professional golfers first made an impact
in junior golf.
The starting point for young golfers will be to borrow or buy some suitable
junior golf clubs (see Junior
Golf Equipment) and practice at a local public golf driving range.
Golf is a game where tuition is very important at an early age to get
the basics right. Most golf courses and ranges will offer lessons to juniors
and group lessons are often available at public golf ranges to reduce
the initial cost. There are an increasing number of public Par 3 courses
where young juniors from the age of 6 or 7 can start to practice the game.
Once a junior becomes proficient on a Par 3 course the next step is to
Join
a Golf Club as a Junior Member. There are also a number of Junior
Golf Competitions now available for young junior golfers which
do not involve joining a club immediately.
Once juniors have the Golf bug it can be an ideal family holiday (if mum
or dad play) to choose a vebnue which has the opportunity also to play
golf (See Golf
Holidays for Juniors)
