Junior Golf Equipment Junior golfers taking up the game at an early age can now do so with junior golf clubs which are the right size to be able to develop their golf game. There are a number of manufacturers who nor make junior golf clubs for young golfers from age 5 upwards to about age 11 - typically with 2 or 3 irons and a driving club, putter and bag. This combined with the usual growth spurt around this age and improved power will see handicaps tumbling for the able player. With the wrong golf clubs and equipment a players development will be held back. Take advice at a local golf club centre to select the right golf clubs for promising juniors. Graphite shafted ladies golf clubs are often ideal for the young golfer aged 11-14, but as junior golf players become more proficient and their swing speed increases, golf clubs, both irons and woods, with stiffer shafts will often be needed. At this stage it is even more important to take advice from a professional as a junior's game can deteriorate because of the need to progress the specification of the golf equipment rather than with any fault in the golf swing. For the better golfers aged 14-17 the "custom fit" golf equipment at many golf centres will give help in deciding the right shafts and golf club design to use to help improve the junior's golf game. |
